It’s a great time to get outdoors, work on some projects, and maybe get creative with some DIY crafts. and so Fox 31 brought the experts in. Jeff and Nathan are here from My Own 2 Hands and they are going to teach us how to make a DIY planter box. What you have is a space for people that don’t have a workshop at their house. You have a facility where people can pay, and they can come and they can use your workshop. If you want to reclaim your space or garage, you can come build here!
“Alright so what are we building?”
“So we’ve got some really quick planter boxes that its interesting how you can go to the hardware store and buy a piece of wood that looks like this, right? You buy their size, they don’t sell this size, but with a shop like ours, what you can do is take what you are given from the hardware perspective and actually mill the wood down to an appropriate size for the project you are doing so it makes things far more flexible,” said Jeff, the owner of My Own 2 Hands
“And that’s a tool most of us are never going to have in our garage, I mean you would have to have a serious workshop to have something like that,” said Kirk.
“You would and we have some very industrial grade tools that really make things so much easier to do,” said Jeff.
“You guys have projects for folks that don’t know what they are doing, they want to come in and just want to build a project.”
Jeff described the two different kinds of experiences: “One is a guided experience, so that’s in the form of a class. You can do a project oriented class or a skill oriented class or you can design your own class. You send us a picture of something you want to make, we’ll put the class together so that you and some of your friends. We also have corporate events and things like that. The other experience is for people that have experience and just don’t have anywhere to build stuff – they can come in and work on some projects. I mean that’s the whole point: it’s a climate controlled 6,000 square foot space, big bay doors that we can bring in bigger materials and take away bigger finished products, all that kind of stuff.”
